The history of the Porsche brand can almost be read as a family novel. In which, confusingly, three main characters also have the same name. Pater familias is Professor Ferdinand Porsche, who also christened his son Ferdinand but, for convenience, called him Ferry. This Ferry also had sons, the eldest of whom he baptized Ferdinand. This Ferdinand the Third is referred to in the walk as "Butzi. Founder Ferdinand Porsche presented his first car at the age of 25. That was the electric-powered Lohner. Porsche then spent countless years working for various car brands and in 1931 saw his opportunity to start his own manufacturing company: Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche GmbH, Konstruktionen und Beratungen für Motern, Fahrzeug, Luftfahrzeug, and Wasserfahrzeugbau. The company started under a mediocre star - the 1930s crisis made itself felt - but large orders from equally large car manufacturers soon brought in money. Porsche also made a name for itself with sound technical solutions. Meanwhile, son Ferry Porsche had also become fully active in the company and under his leadership Porsche achieved its first successes in motor sports, including Formula 1. That laid the foundation for what would eventually become Porsche's core business: building reliable sports cars. Starting with the 356, which would later be succeeded by the 911, which is still successful today.
